Vacancy for a journalist:
Middleburg Observer is currently looking for an energetic person who has a passion for both writing and people to be inducted as a journalist.
Requirements for this role:
- Must be proficient in English, and the candidate must be able to read ,speak, and write
- Able to write well constructed and accurate articles which always reflect both stories and their perspectives
- Pay attention to detail, even small details
- Ability to work alone without supervision and meet strict deadlines at all times
- Be able to anticipate problems and formulate solutions
- Candidate must be willing to work under pressure
- Computer literate
- Prepared to work long after hours
- Residents in Middleburg will be given preference for this role
- Computer literate, especially Microsoft office
- Clear criminal record
- Professional, reliable and honest
- Valid drivers license is required
- South African citizen
Responsibilities for this role:
- Maintain objective, fairness and impartiality making sure that confidential sources are protected at all the time
- Write , edit and produce concise stories to be printed
- Conduct research and verify facts through interviews and observation to Maintain accuracy
- Interview different sources
